The Mediterranean villa design is usually a one-story home with shallow sloping roofs, creating a broad overhang, to provide much-needed shade in hot climates. Courtyards and arches enable breeze to flow easily throughout the house and the verandas. Verandas can often be found leading from the bedrooms. Typically, the Mediterranean house is built with a stucco exterior and a red-tiled roof. These homes make great holiday homes or can be used as permanent residences.
