10 Most Popular Projects Presented in July 2011

July was a very inspired designers’ month. And as will see from the projects below, we did not lack architecture “miracles” either. We invite you to go through the most voted Freshome posts and in the end, give us your feedback. As usual, this countdown was achieved according to your Facebook shares as they were registered in the last day of July. Remember that by clicking on the pictures, you can see more photos and details about each project.

#1 . July’s most popular Freshome post featured a bright and pleasant apartment showcasing plenty of appealing decorative items. With a typical Scandinavian design , yet individualized through original details, this apartment consists of two rooms plus kitchen and is spread over a surface of 81 square meters. It was a pleasant surprise to see this apartment get the most Facebook shares. In return, it has the “privilege” of opening our “best of” list.

#2 . An exact replica of the ‘Up” house was recently constructed by Bangerter Homes , in Herriman, Utah. And since Freshome covers all major unconventional architecture projects across the world, this home really got our attention. And judging by your votes, it also got yours. Click on the photo for the original post and a news coverage on the project.

#3. Richard Clarkson in collaboration with Grace Emmanual, Brodie Campbell, Jeremy Broker, Eamon Moore, Kahlivia Russell and Joya Boerrigter designed a cradle for adults . Designed for maximum relaxation, comfort and calmness, this unusual armchair couldn’t look more appealing.

#4.  Chiswick Woodworking Company completed an interesting and highly practical project consisting of several storage units that can be pulled out from under the stairs. The pulling mechanism is simple; this way anyone can have easy access to the items inside the ‘stairs”. We were pleasantly surprised to see that this was a very popular post, and for a good reason.

#5.  Plushtography is a design studio that started creating the lens pillow for themselves, then thought about sharing their work with the world. These hand-made photography pillows come in three different shapes: a Canon 50mm and a Nikon 35mm lens for $35 and a Canon 24-105mm lens for $65. Made using fleece and felt, the pillows are soft but sturdy. Each design was meant to be enjoyed by everyone whose love for photography can be seen outside their photos.

#6. This particular multi-level 5,000 square foot apartment is the perfect place to combine a flourishing social life with the comforts of home. The owner and Martin Building Company worked together to design a personalized space that would replace the old warehouse. Located in San Francisco’s South of Market district, the apartment draws attention with exciting features like the basketball court or the tree in the middle of the living room.

#7. This month’s number seven is a fascinating apartment and also a great example of how 64 square meters can be turned into a spacious, chic living space. The hall that welcomes you is wide, featuring high ceilings and light walls, introducing you to the typical 20′s style with tight stucco and decorative parquet. And did you notice the crazy wallpaper?

#8. Victor Enrich is an artist and an architect whose 3D building illustrations caught our attention. The original versions of the buildings below are reinterpreted in an original manner by the artist and the results are startling. Access more details by clicking on the photo below.

#9. This next residential project comes from Singapore-based architects ONG&ONG . Named 72 Sentosa Cove House , the residence is located in an exclusive oceanfront residential community in the East of Sentosa Island in Singapore. The architects needed to maximize the space and ensure the inhabitant’s privacy while constructing a comfortable yet luxurious residence. Fabulously modern, 72 Sentosa Cove House connects multiple areas – both private and public – into a series of well-planned spaces that greet the family with a comforting feeling.

#10. Last but not least, here is a truly spectacular home located on the Spanish island of Formentera. The outdoor areas are more than inviting: a generous pool with colorful and cozy patio furniture allure the inhabitants for a fresh drink and a sunbath. The interiors feature well preserved traditional details. Just too peaceful and holiday-inspiring not to love.
